Loughborough and District MCC finally got the 2010 season underway on Sunday following the cancellation of their January event at the normal Riley's Railway venue. The course plotters had been out on Saturday looking for suitable options that would test but not destroy and with the damp weather recently a mix of sections proved a hit on all routes. 8 sections were ridden 5 times with section 1 and section 8 under the watchful eye of Sue Harris being the decider's on all 3 routes. Tony Wareing who likes to be busy when he observes picked the wrong one on Sunday, his section (5) only catching a few Hard Route riders for dabs.

Winner of the Hard Route was Rob Margetts by a couple from Sam Gent (out for the first time on his new EVO) closely followed by the Wareing brothers. Oliver led home Paul who was able to just keep in front of top Youth Aaron Marklew who he was coaching, better watch how much info you give him in the future Paul!

The middle route was a sensible mix of sections with a few shock results but not at the sharp end where Andy Butt showed Paul Smart the way mainly due to his kamikaze approach to section 1 that paid off as the day wore on. Keith Radley brought the ex Tim Gent Beta home in 3rd much to Tim's horror as he languished down the field. Hard working club helper Nat Harris put in a ride for the girls with a strong showing and is looking forward to the Mansfield Maun ladies training day to help her progress even further.

Phil Pearce dropped down to the White route but could not hold the hard charging TY of Cliff Wall who took victory. Dave Smith stunned many with a well earned 3rd, his TY 175 sounding more like a diesel on the long climb of section 8 but it did get him up every time.

A great event set out for the clubmen who need to work on Monday rather than the stars of the future although the Hard Route did challenge even the good lads who turned out. Loughborough have their next event on March 7th, again at Riley's and at £10 entry with no club fees to pay must be running the most cost effective trials in the UK this year.
